Race Timer race timing software
turns a computer into a powerful and accurate race timing device.
Instead of purchasing expensive specialized race timing equipment
like a Sprint8, a Chronomix, a Time Machine, SEIKO printing stopwatch,
or a ChampionChip system, purchase Race Timer race timing
software for a fraction of the cost. For just $99.00 you can
purchase Race Timer and turn any
pc type computer or a pocket pc into a race timing machine
that is more powerful and just as accurate as specialized timing
equipment that can cost thousands of dollars.
This is a
great tool for running clubs, schools, and race directors of
small races that do their own timing. Combine Race Timer
with the pull-tag system for scoring a race and you're ready
to quickly generate accurate results for your running, skiing
or biking event. Race Timer gathers finsish line time
data and supports rudimentary results processing. You can build
a list of participants, define age groups and sort results by
age groups. If you need more reporting and scoring features than
simple age groups, there are full featured programs such as "The
Race Director" by Race
Management Systems that work well with Race Timer.

Features
Race Timer allows the person
doing race timing to record times by simply hitting the enter
key or space bar. They can also easily enter bib numbers for
select times. Even an inexperienced operator with minimal training
will find Race Timer easy to use and be able to achieve accurate
results when timing a race event.
The main
record screen shown below supports all the operations needed
for the recording and saving of times.

The record screen features:
· Large format display of elapsed race time updated each
second
· Scrollable display of all recorded places, times and
bib numbers
· Large format display of entered bib number
· Display of last recorded place, time and bib number
· Single key stroke commands for saving the recorded times
to disk
· Single key stroke commands for deleting the last recorded
time
· Single key stroke commands for editing bib numbers and
swapping last two bib numbers
In addition
to the main features of recording times, bib numbers, saving
times and simple editing, Race Timer supports other important
features:
· Race Timer can aggressively take over the computer making
it difficult for the person doing the timing to accidentally
exit Race Timer or switch to another program
· Supports flexibility in configuring to tailor behavior
to the needs of a particular race event
· Automatic saving of data to disk, even a networked drive
for networked systems
· You can start the Race Timer clock at the start of the
race or later at a known elapsed time
· You can restart the clock to correct for initially starting
the clock at the wrong time
· Automatic backup and recovery of time data in advent
of inadvertent shut down of the computer
· Calibration of the computer system clock to accommodate
inaccurate computer clocks and bring clock accuracy to 0.1 second
in 24 hours.
· Records times with a resolution of 0.01 seconds
· Supports a dual timing mode where two people operate
one computer, one person using the mouse to record every time
and a second person using the keyboard to do select timing.
· Supports saving particpant data such as Name, Age, Sex
with the time and place data. This allows you to do simple results
processing and race scoring by hand or with spreadsheet software.
· Supports power saving when operating under battery mode,
by allowing you to turn on and off the display screen.
· Supports viewing participant data as you type in a bib
number.
· Supports creating and editing a list of participants.
· Supports defining age groups.
· Supports saving results sorted by age groups.
See our Race Announcer software for a dedicated
program for viewing participant data at the finish line.
